RainDance Technologies’ RainDrop™ Digital PCR System has many unique advantages for working with RNA. With a simple single pipetting step into a well on a disposable chip, the RainDrop System partitions the sample into enough droplets to isolate single target molecules into individual droplets. When loaded in a one-step reverse transcription-dPCR buffer together with the qPCR assays of interest, this single molecule format enables highly efficient reverse transcription and multiplex analysis.
Compared to other competitive platforms, the RainDrop’s One-Step RNA Analysis method offers several key advantages, including:

- Less bias introduced by random oligos or poly dT primed reverse transcription

In this webinar, we discussed the simple workflow, large dynamic range, high precision, and unprecedented multiplexing capabilities provided by the RainDrop Digital PCR System, enabling researchers to look at multiple RNA targets expressed at both high and low levels in the same sample. In addition to both cellular and viral mRNA target analysis, this RainDrop System also enables for the first time a one-step RT-PCR analysis of microRNA using standard reagents.

Michael Samuels, PhD, is the Principal Research Scientist and Scientific Liaison at RainDance Technologies. He received his PhD in biochemistry from the University College of London in 1999, performed Damon Runyon Fellowship-sponsored research at University of Massachusetts Medical School, and has worked for over 13 years at a number of biotechnology companies.
