Performance Data to be Presented on New iGenomX™ Single Molecule Assembly Application and the Faster and Automated Analysis Features of the RainDrop® Digital PCR System
BILLERICA, Mass. and VANCOUVER, Canada — October 19, 2016 — RainDance Technologies, Inc., a genomics tools company simplifying the analysis of complex genetic diseases, today announced that it will be debuting new capabilities that further demonstrate the versatility and simplicity of the company’s picodroplet genomic analysis platform. Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Darren Link, PhD, will host a workshop at the American Society of Human Genetics 2016 Annual Meeting. In addition to Dr. Link’s presentation on the newest capabilities on the RainDrop® Digital PCR System, key collaborators from HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and iGenomX™ will share data featuring a new Single Molecule Assembly human genome sequencing application.
One of the most challenging issues with standard whole-genome Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) analysis is that it only generates a single consensus sequence and human geneticists are unable to phase maternally and paternally derived sequence information. A vast majority of human genome assemblies are incomplete. The combination of the RainDance picodroplet platform and the iGenomX protocol enables accurate, long single molecule assembly of human genomes. This approach eliminates the inefficient and expensive steps of fragmentation, end-repair, A-tailing, ligation and the associated clean-up procedures. As a result, bias is removed, costs are reduced and more complete information is obtained from every molecule.
“RainDance is continuously looking at new applications that reveal the full potential of our proven picodroplet technology and platforms,” said Dr. Link. “With the new iGenomX Single Molecule Assembly and automated digital PCR data analysis, we are enabling our users to perform phased whole-genome sequencing and digital PCR projects with faster and easier to implement workflows.”
About RainDrop Digital PCR System
The RainDrop System is the only unified platform for profiling and monitoring cell-free and cell based biomarkers for variant detection, clonal evolution tracking, and minimal residual disease monitoring applications. By generating up to 10 million highly uniform five picoliter droplet reactions per sample, the RainDrop System enables superior sensitivity and precision. Available later this year, the RainDrop Plus System features even faster time to results and new analysis capabilities including auto gating.
