Next week, RainDance’s European team will head to Paris for the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Genetics (ESHG), running from June 8-11. This international conference (now in its 46th year!) brings together some 2,500 researchers in human and medical genetics who will hear about the latest advances in more than 100 oral presentations, 16 workshops, and 8 educational sessions.
After a very busy and exciting spring, we head into this meeting with a lot to talk about and are looking forward to meeting colleagues and customers both new and old. Here are three things we’re looking forward to at the upcoming show:
Showing off our instruments: Our base of operations will be located on the Exhibition Floor (Stand #488) where our team, led by European Sales Director Mark Dronsfield, will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate the capabilities of our two instrument platforms: the ThunderStorm™ Targeted Sequencing and RainDrop™ Digital PCR Systems.
Both are being used in leading research labs across Europe and some of the most exciting collaborations we are engaged in right now are with our European customers. In fact, Dr. Julien Philippe, from the European Genomic Institute for Diabetes (EGID) will be presenting a poster (Poster #: P13.28) discussing their use of the RainDance targeted sequencing solution in the identification of causal variants in type 2 diabetes and obesity using next-generation sequencing. If you are attending ESHG, this poster will be presented on Saturday, June 8, 11.45 – 13.15hrs in. room 202/203 – level 2. You can also find it online here.
Seeing our customers: We are also looking forward to seeing a number of our customers and collaborators who are also exhibiting at ESHG. Ambry Genetics (#522) and Emory Genetics Lab (#526) are both part of our Service Partner Program and are working with RainDance to develop customized gene panels used to screen for, among other things, human inherited diseases. These tests are powered by our ThunderStorm platform and are helping usher in the era of multi-gene testing. The customers are developing the panels and we are manufacturing the panels.
Integrated DNA Technologies/IDT (#668) and Myriad Genetics (#610) will also be there. RainDance is collaborating with IDT on the development of reagents compatible with our RainDrop Digital PCR System. Myriad recently announced an equity investment in RainDance and that they have adopted of our ThunderStorm system to power their new next-generation sequencing-based myRisk™ Hereditary Cancer panel.
Meeting with you! We’d enjoy the opportunity to tell you more about what’s new at RainDance with Paris as our back drop, so please stop by if you are attending ESHG. If you won’t be there, please feel free to contact us any time with your questions about how we can help you in your work.
