It’s been an exciting year of growth at RainDance and we are pleased to announce that we have completed the move into our new corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility located on 749 Middlesex Turnpike, Billerica, Massachusetts.
Incorporated in 1655, Billerica is 20 miles northwest of Boston and home to a number of other life science and biotech companies including Bruker BioSpin, Millipore, and BD Biosciences. We are very pleased to be here and are looking forward to being part of this vibrant scientific community.
Our new facility was formerly Welch’s Technology Center, home of the R&D efforts for the famous company’s juice and jelly products. With 40,000-square-feet at our disposal – almost twice the space than we had before – we will continue their tradition of R&D and innovation with our own work.
In addition to thinking about what’s next, we are also very focused on serving our many customers around the world. 10,000 square feet of this new space are devoted to manufacturing. This is where all of the RainDrop™ Digital PCR and ThunderStorm™ Targeted Sequencing Systems will be built and tested prior to shipping near and far. This move has also allowed us to expand our primer library production capacity, enabling us to significantly increase the speed at which we can turn around custom libraries for our customers.
“We are all very excited about our new home in Billerica. This new bigger facility is emblematic of the exciting growth we are seeing in our business and positions us to meet the demands of our global customer base today and in the future. It also gives our R&D team the space to perform new research and testing that we hope will ultimately lead to new innovative solutions for leveraging the genome in human healthcare,” added Roch Kelly, Senior Vice President of Operations at RainDance.
So stop by if you are in the area, we’d enjoy the opportunity to show you around!
